The usual questions

The things drivers ask before their first trip. If your question isn't here, ask it on the Discord. Someone will have asked it the week before.

Do I need a copy of OMSI 2?

Yes. openOMSI is a rewrite of the engine, not a game. It loads your existing OMSI 2 installation and includes no game content of its own. Any copy that runs the Westcountry map will do.

Does multiplayer work on vanilla OMSI 2?

No. OMSI 2 shipped without multiplayer, so this server runs on the openOMSI client. Download the latest release, point it at your OMSI 2 folder, and you're on the same roads, 64-bit and faster than you're used to.

I've never used openOMSI. Is that a problem?

Not really. Install it, let it find your OMSI 2 folder, install the map, and join. The driving itself is unchanged. If you can hold a schedule in single player, you can hold one here.

I'm not in the UK. Can I still play?

Of course. The server sits in the UK, so UK evenings and weekends are busiest, but the map runs around the clock and nobody's checking your postcode. Just keep driving on the left.

Is the server free?

Yes. There's no account, fee or queue. The only things you must own are OMSI 2 and the map.

What equipment do I need?

Whatever you usually drive with: keyboard, gamepad, or wheel and pedals. The openOMSI client runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

How do my driving statistics follow me?

Sign in with Discord on depart.cloud, then open your profile. You'll be given a personal OMSI name, like Alex#4821. Create your profile on the openOMSI client with exactly that name, and everything you drive on the server is recorded against it: hours, routes and records. The name is yours alone, so the statistics can only be yours.
