One map. Everyone driving it at once.
Westcountry Associated operates the first multiplayer service for openOMSI, the open-source rewrite of OMSI 2. It's UKDT's Westcountry 3 as you know it, but the road is shared: real traffic and fifteen other drivers' indicators.
The software
What is openOMSI?
OpenOMSI is a community rewrite of OMSI 2: same maps, same buses, same schedules, rebuilt for modern computers from scratch. It matters here because vanilla OMSI 2 never shipped with multiplayer. The rewrite has the dedicated server to run one properly.
- 64-bit and multithreaded
- The two-gigabyte ceiling and the stutter are gone. OpenOMSI rewrites the engine on modern hardware without changing how the game drives.
- 100% mod compatible
- It loads your existing OMSI 2 installation unchanged: maps, buses, splines, timetables. No conversion, no reinstall.
- A headless dedicated server
- The server simulates the whole map without a window. Buses keep moving and schedules keep ticking whether or not anyone is driving.
- Cross-platform
- Windows, macOS and Linux clients from the same project. Whatever you drive with, it works.
OpenOMSI needs a legitimate OMSI 2 installation in place. It ships no game content of its own.
The map
The Westcountry route network
One fictional county on the English south-west coast, made by UKDT. Paignton is the hub, and every service runs to a schedule.

| 1B | Totnes ↔ Totnes | High Street, Castle, Colstead, train station |

The record
depart.HR keeps the books
The openOMSI client reports what every driver is up to: which bus, which tour, how fast. depart.HR files it: a live duty board, the month's hours board, and a running record of every tour, its hours and fleet familiarisation for each driver. Sign in with Discord and it's your record: the duty your client is reporting, and every tour you've worked.

Joining in four steps
-
01
Have OMSI 2 installed
The Steam copy is fine. openOMSI loads your existing game, maps, buses and everything else, and ships no content of its own.
-
02
Install Westcountry 3.03a
Download the base 3.03 and the 3.03a patch, both files, and follow the enclosed install guide. Older map folders need deleting first if you've modified them.
-
03
Grab the latest openOMSI build
The client build needs to be close to the server's. Pick the newest release and you'll be fine.
-
04
Add the server and take a slot
In the openOMSI client, open Multiplayer, add a server, and enter westcountry.depart.cloud. Choose Westcountry 3, let it load, then pick a free bus.

The depot is open.
No account and no queue. Own OMSI 2 and the map, and that's everything you need. The Discord is where drivers get help, and notices get posted.
